Jon Favreau teases Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu
THE NEW TEASER TRAILER for The Mandalorian and Grogu is here—and those of you who were hoping for a little bit more of a polished cinematic look finally get your wish. The action-packed, almost two-minute trailer is filled with all sorts of thrills, chills, and stunning visuals that have us wishing we could just make the jump to May 22, 2026. Fans who were concerned that the Sept teaser trailer felt less like a cinematic event and more like a glorified episode of the Disney+ show condensed for the big screen can finally relax a little because this teaser delivers. The new version, or second released teaser, is playing in front of Zootopia 2 this Thanksgiving weekend, and it has added previously shown scenes from Star Wars Celebration Japan and D23.

This second teaser flows better and makes The Mandalorian and Grogu look much bigger in scale. We see more of the movie than ever before, including new material, roughly a half-dozen new shots consisting of Din Djarin speeding down the mountain piloting what looks like an AT-RT off the side of a snowy cliff to attack the fully armored AT-ATs, more of fan-favorite Zeb Orrelios, and a great final scene of Grogu destroying a Mouse Droid at an Imperial base on a snow planet reminiscent of Hoth.
All this comes just a days after a new international poster featuring a minimalist design focusing on the main characters that includes a potential early release date for some regions and a short promo video, via the X platform, for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ starring Grogu using the force in a playful and cute little moment.
Despite the film’s bumpy road and a divided fanbase, it’s right on schedule to premiere on the May 2026 release date it has always had. Lucasfilm is turning their marketing machine up a notch, and part of their huge push is unveiling another teaser trailer that does an excellent job of establishing the film’s tone.
Star Wars ’ Jon Favreau Says There Mandalorian and Grogu allowed him to “Really have fun” with characters

This is very much an old-school space adventure film, and it looks like a lot of fun. In particular, Mando and Grogu have some already memorable interactions, most notably the moment when they team up to battle whomever gets in their way. The back and forth between the two reminds me of the Han Solo and Chewbacca relationship from yesteryears.
