Led by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, the Yellowstone spinoff series follows the Clyburns, a wealthy New York City family that relocates to the Madison River Valley of central Montana.

Other details are somewhat sparse, but Paramount+ describes the series as “a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation,” The full synopsis reads:

“The Madison is a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”

USA Today shared exclusive first look images of the highly anticipated TV drama from Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan two months ahead of the series’ premiere, revealing the series’ stars and setting.

Christina Alexandra Voros known for her significant work on Sheridan’s, Yellowstone and its prequel 1883 series is directing and producing with Sheridan, the man behind the series, serving as executive producer under his Bosque Ranch Productions banner.

Voros told Variety that “the common ground” between the two shows (Yellowstone) “is the landscape. We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens, so it feels like another facet of this cut stone that has been polished. There are parallels in the scope of the landscape and a human being’s place in that space, but it’s coming at it from a completely different point of view.”

The Madison is described as Sheridan’s most intimate work to date, unfolding across two distinct worlds: the energy of Manhattan and the beautiful landscape of Montana, as it examines the ties that bind families together.

Paramount+ has also released the first teaser for the series, which shows an emotional Pfeiffer collapsing into the Madison River before it cuts away to Pfeiffer’s Stacy Clyburn confessing to her therapist, played by Will Arnett, “My center, my soul, is gone.” A calculated-seeming Arnett replies, “You will heal if you let yourself.”
