The Force Awakens ‘Star Wars’ Fans In New The Mandalorian and Grogu Trailer And Poster

The ‘Mandalorian’ TV show spinoff starring Pedro Pascal has revealed its second official trailer today.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu’s big-screen adventure is scheduled for theatrical release on May 22, 2026, continuing the story of the highly popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

Directed by Jon Favreau, who also co-wrote the script with Dave Filoni, after their successful collaboration on the series, the all-new movie focuses on the legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter, Din Djarin, and his apprentice, Grogu, who are recruited by the New Republic to hunt down the remaining Imperial warlords after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The movie will follow the two as they continue to deal with the lingering threat of the Empire while undertaking a new quest for the New Republic.

Today, the second action-packed trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu hit theaters and on social in bootleg form, with a bit of a different vibe than its predecessor, which was released in late September.

Fans are very excited for the upcoming feature which will elaborate on the Disney+ series and the story of Din Djarin and his force-wielding adopted son Grogu.

The trailer, which debuted in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash when it was released in theaters recently, emphasizes themes of duty, belonging, legacy, and the duo’s unbreakable bond. The preview starts similarly to the first release and includes a 10-second scene between Din Djarin and Grogu. The former has a few new lines, including an explanation to Grogu on how best to wear his armor before heading into battle, speaking the lines, “Before we go into harm’s way, make sure your armor is tucked.”

While there are no new significant cameos, there is a new sequence with Djarin battling several alien creatures that looks like a game of Dejarik, seen on the game table inside the Millennium Falcon in the original Star Wars: A New Hope, brought to life by fighting in the arena. We also finally get a full reveal of the Mandalorian’s new sword as well, which is pretty darn cool if you ask us.

Other scenes include blaster combat, Grogu’s infiltration missions inside Imperial facilities, and a standout moment involving combat within an AT-AT featuring, what appears to be, an epic scene of Din entering and promptly roasting some stormtroopers with a flamethrower. The trailer leans hard into spectacle, reinforcing that this story is meant for the big screen with composer Ludwig Göransson unforgettable Mandalorian theme blasting over the IMAX speakers.

Grogu, initially known as “The Child” or affectionately as “Baby Yoda” by fans, is a central character in the film.

This new trailer definitely calms the nerves of Star Wars fans and critics after the first teaser was met with a mixed response, diminishing its anticipation for its upcoming theatrical release. Although, the fact that the new ‘Supergirl’ trailer now has over double the views of the first Mandalorian and Grogu trailer, and that was accomplished in just three days, emphasizes Lucasfilm’s failure in its overall marketing for the first Star Wars film in years.

Less than six months remain before one of Star Wars‘ most recognizable pairings trades the small screen for multiplexes worldwide. While many fans expressed excitement online and on social media about seeing their beloved characters, Din Djarin and Grogu, capturing the “patience and grit” that made the show popular, others still questioned the necessity of a movie instead of a fourth season and feel that Disney’s understanding of what works for the franchise is flawed. The new trailer does give the big-screen franchise a boost, but fans will need a little more from Favreau and company to fill theater seats.

Can Lucasfilm’s marketing for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie continue to improve? Does it still need a more impactful campaign to convince general audiences it is a must-see cinematic event rather than simply a continuation of a TV show? The answer remains unclear at this time.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau, who is also producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce. The film’s music is composed by Ludwig Göransson, who returns to score the franchise.

The Mandalorian and Grogu, an all-new Star Wars adventure will be filmed exclusively for IMAX. “Filmed for IMAX” differs from “Shot with IMAX,” and an IMAX film falls into one of these two categories. “Filmed for IMAX” means to film with cameras approved by IMAX, and “Shot for IMAX” means to film with IMAX 65mm cameras. Both techniques result in a highly detailed and large image size.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be a test as to whether the decades-old franchise still has enough firing power to bring the masses into theaters. While I’m not going to post the trailer here until it’s official, it is available on social media in a fan-recorded bootleg. I’ll have an update when StarWars.com officially releases it.

May the Force be with you….

One quick note, before we go. A new description of Din Djarin and Grogu has been released in promotional material for the upcoming book The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, which details their new mission in the film set after the events of the Disney+ series’ third season.

The book itself, available for pre-order on Abrams Books, will provide an exclusive look at the concept art and creative process behind their first feature film adventure.

Hours later, we got a look at a new horizontal version of the poster of The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is being shared across some movie theaters! Thanks once again to @Mando3Updates. Not much different, but cool nevertheless.
