Actress Daisy Ridley on Live with Kelly and Mark: Teases Exciting News About Rey’s Future in ‘Star Wars’

Star Wars sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley celebrated the 10th anniversary of The Force Awakens with an update on the further adventures of Rey Skywalker …

Nearly three years ago, at the Star Wars Celebration event in London, England, it was announced that actress Daisy Ridley would reprise her role as Rey Skywalker in an upcoming Star Wars film set years after the events of “The Rise of Skywalker.

Since then, we haven’t heard much from the official side, and as of now, the project is temporarily on hold while other Star Wars films (like The Mandalorian & Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter) move forward. The untitled Ridley-led film has experienced several writer changes and production delays, which is most likely the reason that information has been scarce.

Despite the project’s apparent hold, Ridley has dropped hints that a film is still moving forward and is in active development. She’s commented that “over the years, [she’s] learned how massive the reality of getting any film made is.” But she trusts everyone still developing it and believes that it will be “worth the wait.”

The Hollywood Rising Star Award winner recently spoke in favor of a canceled “Hunt for Ben Solo” project revealed by her trilogy co-star Adam Driver and her shared fan enthusiasm for the project. Although there is no indication that the fan hype or the recent news of a canceled Ben Solo project will have any direct impact on the Rey film’s development, it’s worth noting that something is definitely churning over at Lucasfilm and that the ball may finally be moving, ever so slightly.

On Monday, just before the 10th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, Daisy Ridley spoke on Live with Kelly and Mark about the milestone and also teased her return to Disney and Lucasfilm’s Galaxy Far, Far Away:

When hostess Kelly Ripa asked if there’s talk of new Rey Skywalker adventures, the actress — appearing next in the early January 2026 zombie movie We Bury the Dead — was tight-lipped for the most part about any details but was definitely positive:

“Yeah, yeah, yeah… we are moving in a great direction.” When pressed by Kelly, asking if “moving in the direction of filming something soon?” Ridley responded with “perhaps.” When pressed some more as to “whether she would be a part of it,” her response was “I will” with a smile.

There’s not a lot said – at all – but it’s the way that not a lot is said which says a lot.

While Lucasfilm’s focus remains on projects set for 2026 and 2027, this offers a glimmer of hope for a Rey film and gives the movie time to develop properly. Fans will need to be extra patient as the studio works to perfect the story for this new chapter in Rey’s journey.

Oh, before we go, perhaps there’s a chance that Ben Solo (Adam Driver) will be joining Rey in some sort of role in her next Star Wars adventure. Remember, “No one’s ever really gone,” right, Reylo fans? You just honestly can never tell with Hollywood these days.
