Disney released Solo: A Star Wars Story in hopes of kicking off new adventures in its galaxy far, far away. Those plans quickly derailed when the film earned only three hundred ninety three million worldwide at the box office. That final number fell far short of the billion dollar marks set by earlier Disney Star Wars releases. It also didn’t help that critics gave the film mixed reviews, and fans endlessly debated whether or not this was the right direction for future Star Wars.
Now, nearly seven years after Solo’s failure at the box office, Alden Ehrenreich is back in the news sharing his thoughts about a return to Star Wars.

In a recent interview with Collider, the actor said he would consider a return if the script felt right.
“It would have to really, really be the right version of it [the character].”
He also stressed that the story must respect the original character and offer a fresh angle with a platform for future work.

“Making a movie is stressful no matter what. Your job as an actor, in a way, is to use the energy that’s happening [around you]. And sometimes that energy involves stress, but characters are under stress. There are very few characters who are just having a ball. So it’s contributive sometimes. As long as it’s an environment where people feel safe. It set the stage for a lot of things that I get to do now. It’s a great platform, and there were some really great times during it. And I’m happy I get to do what I do now”
Whether or not Ehrenreich will ever get another chance to portray a young Han Solo again remains to be seen. Recently, however, there has been some Hollywood buzz surrounding a future “Lando” TV series spin-off from “Solo”, but that appears to have lost some steam. As for now, Disney is hard at work on a second streaming season of the critically acclaimed “Ahsoka” and blasting its upcoming “Star Wars: Starfighter” film into movie theaters worldwide. Starfighter will be released theatrically May 28, 2027.

I myself appreciated the Solo film more upon my first rewatch and found it had many elements that futher enhance the Star Wars galaxy. New characters like Star Wars‘ Qi’ra in Solo to the expanding story of Darth Maul definitely peaked my interest.
For now, all of us will just have to wait.
May the force be with you…
